Education Committee

Meets on the second Tuesday, monthly from 8-9 PM. 2026 Dates: July 14th, August 11th, September 8th, October 13th, November 10th & 

December 8th

• Develop and implement osteopathic primary care education programs for MAOFP conferences.
• Advance the knowledge and clinical effectiveness of OMM through our programs.
• Create targeted programs for residents and young physicians, as well as practicing physicians in a changing work environment.

Membership and Mentorship Committee

Meets every other month on the fourth Monday from 7-8 PM. 2026 Dates:                                                                      

• Encourage and enhance membership of qualified osteopathic family physicians to the MAOFP via recruitment and retention.
• Seek ways to serve the needs of resident members and young physicians and involve them in MAOFP initiatives and activities.
• Provide new physician members professional support and long-term members renewed sense of belonging by providing opportunities to network.
• Serve as an example/role model.
• Develop and disseminate information for healthy lifestyle and wellness practices among professionals.
• Recruit and involve physicians in promoting healthy, positive lifestyles and behavioral practices.

Awards Nominations Committee

Meets 1-2 times per year, typically in the first and second quarter.   

• Review and vet all nominations for annual awards.
• Review policies and timelines to make sure deadlines are met.

Bylaws & Policy Committee

Meets 1-2 per year in even numbered years                                                                                          

• Review the Association’s bylaws, policies and practices to ensure that they are synchronized, effective and conform to applicable laws or regulations.
• Make recommendations to the Board.
• Review current best practices and governance trends and make recommendations on those that the organization should consider adopting.  

Advocacy and Government Affairs Committee

• Develop or review policies concerning the “business side” of medicine.
• Develop, provide or arrange for practice management educational programs for members or their staff.
• Review, analyze, and recommend action concerning healthcare benefit programs, policies or reimbursement strategies proposed or promulgated by third party benefit payers or regulators.
• Write and submit resolutions for Congress of Delegates.
• Recruit for and attend Congress of Delegates as representatives from MAOFP.
• Research and write letters to legislators regarding issues pertaining to patients and primary care.
• Assist with planning and participate in Michigan Family Medicine Advocacy Day.
• Maintain and develop MAOFP policy statements for Board vote/approval.
